Upcoming Show!

I mentioned the show at Rocking Horse in my last post and I'm very excited! We, (as in the barn) are going on the 29th all doing tadpole. My sister is going on a pony named Princess, we are moving toward selling her for around 5k-7k and looking into buying more projects for cheap. I'm going on Spy of course, she has more experience than the other horses and I have more experience than the other riders as well so that's one less thing for my instructor to worry about. Some old boarders that have their own place now are the others that are coming. It's their first real 3-phase so I'm hoping their experience will be good. (I need to not be competitive this time. My sister and I are always aiming to win. Who isn't?)

Anywho, just wanted to update everyone on that. Spy and I are doing fantastic lately, I've been trying to work on running for long distances and getting her back into that after our long break, linementing her legs after every hard workout to keep her out of the way of hurting herself. I'm trying to condition her the best I can before this event, hopefully she won't be so overdone after this one. I'm not sure what happened last time. Anyways So with about 3 weeks to practice for the big show we will be doing plenty of jumping and running, flat work to give her breaks, and for me a lot of hardcore focusing.

Again no pictures, maybe next time. ;)

Wish us luck!

Good day

So me and Spy are starting to jump again. Gotta get her back in shape for  the September show at Rocking Horse. We jumped pretty good, did the tires, the coop, the log, and the box. No pictures, I was too lazy to tell my mom to get some. I  got Spy an adorable fly mask, it has cheetah print on the edges and for once she has decided to keep it on.

I also worked with Sugar in the round pen today, she was hauling butt once I told her to canter. I love ponies  so much!  They're so  cute  and fast and spunky! I could just cuddle with them all day.

Short update but school has started back again I have less and less time  everyday so. Hopefully I can get in a few more posts this week.

Back in the Saddle

Yes I am! Not for sure though, my arm shouldn't be broken anymore but just in case I ride with my splint for protection. Spy is getting better, still a little off but doing great! We walk and do a bit of trotting, yesterday was the first time riding since the extreme long break so when I tried canter I only did a circle or two each way not to push her too hard. After cantering I trotted some more and for some reason instead of loosening up she looked stiff. Before she looked loads better and perfectly fine, canter just messes her up somehow. We are planning on getting some supplements in her diet soon, maybe that will help.

On the other hand, you all know that I'm getting ready to get her back in shape and sold, well I found an extremely nice horse, 15.2 hh, dutch warmblood. His sire is Coreland keur, his dam is Natural Art. Real nice parents and he is also a real nice mover. Thing is people are probably attacking him and he won't be up for sale by the time my arm is completely healed. He mainly does fox hunting and has been schooling cross country. He's real upbeat and Spy is the same way so that shouldn't be too hard to get used to, other than the size of course. At the stables I've been riding some different horses to get used to changing sizes and stride lengths, different ways of jumping and attitudes. It's really fun to see how they all think differently.

Sorry about the boring no pictures post, should be more entertaining later on.

Now about Sugar! I gave her a bath yesterday too, she was so cute! It was weird though, I was sitting in the barn with her being all nosy and she just starts licking my arm like a dog or something, then she puts her leg in my lap (I've been teaching her 'shake' and giving her treats for it so I guess she wanted food or something) and her hoof is all muddy from the walk from the wash rack to the barn. My riding pants were already soaked from her moving all the time  and then she puts her leg in my lap to make it even better. She was being cute though. She sure does like jumping, I'll free jump her in the round pen or  just around the stables we'll find little boxes or logs. I love her though, just being weird lately.

Ponyful day!

Walked spy around in the arena today, stretched her out. Good to have a safe pony around xD She didn't like me  after putting this "yellow goo" on her bite marks. Looks like Spy found an enemy last night.
Didn't like me after de-worming either. Apple flavor, yeah right.
Sugar enjoyed her day though, free jumped, groomed, treats. She loves me now ;)
My little mini! <3

My little girl

Sugar dropped in to say hey! She's my adorable 18 year old baby ;) Long live the ponies!

Lazy Day

Because of my wrist I am practically useless at the barn, I stand around, pet horses, free lunge in the round pen, and groom my favorite ponies. Other than that, I can't even help feed. Sit around and get attacked by bugs  xD

Anyways, I decided that since I do nothing at the barn but be glum because I'm not up there doing what I  love...I stay home. Yeah, sad day. So since I'm home and bored to death I will try to upload some more pictures and fill you in on well everything. Here I go:

I like to call this story,  when all the horses were set free:

Cloud enjoys taunting Spy from over the fence

Hurry trying to chase the donkey around "C'mon let's run!"

     "Fine. Be that way."

"Spy, I know you want to come out"

 "OH RUNNING! OKAY!"

"Wait a second, thare's grass here...om nom nom nom nom"

And there goes a donkey, "See Hurry! I CAN TOO RUN!"
\
          AAAH HEADBUTT! You crazy animals...

Okie dokie, there's a story I dug up from around January, once I get back in the saddle there will be more recant photos and stories. Anyways, hoped you enjoyed our weird group of ponies, we rarely let the horses out, they go insane. I will get photos of that adventure one day.

Thanks for reading,
Brooke

P.S- Everything at the stables is temporary, we have some boarders that were supposed to move a while ago and never did. Until they move we will be like this and once they leave we will have much more room and hopefully all of this land will be cleared.

Jumpdedee

Spy at the last show! She thinks the jump setter-uppers should have made them higher. I agree ;) Can't wait for our next adventure! This was taken at Canturberry Showplace, during the 3-phase, she sure had fun with x- country too! Hopefully I can dig up more pictures of the show. We should be doing another one soon, recently I took a spill while riding one of my friends horses and broke my wrist. I should get my cast off soon and be back in business. Spy was very sore from this show and we are healing together. I think she might have pulled a muscle or something. Wish us luck!

Scary Cows!

                                                Spy, sweety, those are cows.
Ok. Fine. I'll just, keep going. -secretly peers at cows while turning corner-

FOOOOOOD!!!

Sugar wants to eat the camera! Surprise,  surprise!

The Pony Pals

Welcome to Horse Storys! My name is Brooke, and if you're wondering, yes I do realize the word "storys" is spelled wrong, I personally think it's cute. Anyway, I created this blog to tell you the story of my two ponies Sugar, and Spy.

Sugar is the daring little Shetland, my first ever pony, and one of the best friends you could ever have. She's a liver chestnut, that is sadly graying out as we speak. I received her as a Christmas gift when I was 6 years old, now I'm almost 12 and I just can't let her go. I hope you get a kick out of her adventures as much as I do!

Spy is the push button POA, my second pony. A flea-bitten gray, seeming to shrink with each and every ride. Believe it or not, very soon her horse story will come to end, for she is looking for a new home and to be owned by a smaller rider, willing to take charge. My sister, Taylor also received her as a Christmas gift, her and Sugar were a package deal ;) Once Taylor grew out of her, it was my turn to give her a try, ever since she has been the best jumper I've ever ridden.

Not only will you hear stories about these two mares, you'll hear many other adventures of the other horses that live at the stables. This blog, is FULL of Horse Storys!

Thanks for reading,
Brooke <3
